Polish youtubers built a working nuclear power plant in Minecraft to promote nuclear energy

As part of the promotion of the Polish Atom program, two popular gaming influencers from Poland – Karol "Dealereq" Kutermankiewicz and Mikołaj "Żelazny" Cieślak created a working nuclear power plant in the Minecraft game. The project was implemented by Gameset (Lifetube Group), a leading gaming marketing agency in Poland, as well as Defence24 Group for the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment.

Minecraft is one of the most popular computer games globally, enabling recreation of reality, including real buildings. This feature was leveraged as part of the promotion of the Polish Atom program, implemented by the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment. A working nuclear power plant was created in the virtual world, involving popular gaming influencers associated with the title and an energy expert in the initiative.

Among other things, Minecraft has gained immense popularity because it unlocks the potential for unlimited creative play. The ability to create objects or entire zones makes it a great choice for marketing and communication campaigns: an immersive experience definitely outclasses a passive message. As part of the campaign, Karol "Dealereq" Kutermankiewicz and Mikołaj "Żelazny" Cieślak published four videos on YouTube. These videos allowed viewers to learn, among other things, how long it takes to build a nuclear power plant in the real world, how nuclear reactors work and how energy is obtained from the atom. Technical issues were explained to them in a simple and accessible way by Jakub Wiech, an analyst and Polish energy expert who is the editor-in-chief of Energetyka24, one of the leading Polish portals dedicated to the energy sector. This knowledge helped them in creating and running a nuclear power plant in Minecraft.

I was very impressed by the nuclear power plant that Dealereq and Zelazny built in Minecraft. First of all, the detail of the entire construction was striking. The unit also impressed with its size and creative use of elements available in the game. All this allowed to recreate the work of a real nuclear power plant. The audience of YouTubers could thus quickly and easily understand what the operation of such a unit is all about

These activations on the YouTube platform are directed at young audiences and have an educational focus. The goal of the campaign is to demonstrate to this group that atomic energy is both safe and necessary. As part of the campaign, a special podcast episode was recorded, featuring Jakub Wiech in the conversation with the aforementioned gaming influencers.

Fun is one of the most effective forms of learning. The goal of this project was to reach the younger generation with an educational message in an enjoyable and interesting way. Today, reading the comments and opinions under the published videos of Dealereq and Zelazny, we can confidently say that the goal has been achieved. This is a very successful campaign
